Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most common questions.

1. What exactly does PDF Finder do?

PDF Finder is an Android application designed to simplify your life. It allows you to scan a web page (by sharing the URL from your browser or pasting it directly) to identify all PDF documents on that page. You then get a clear list, can select your files, and then download all desired PDFs at once (bulk download), saving you precious time.

2. Is PDF Finder free?

Yes, PDF Finder offers a fully functional free version. It allows you to scan the web page, list, and select found PDFs. To start the download, the free version will ask you to watch an advertisement (via Google AdMob). For an ad-free experience and advanced scanning features, we also offer a Pro version.

3. What is the difference between the free version and the Pro version?

The free version allows you to scan the direct page, list and select your files, but requires watching an ad to start the download. The Pro version offers several major advantages:

  • Powerful Recursive Scan: It explores up to 5 levels of links from the initial URL to unearth PDFs hidden in the site tree, which the free version would miss.
  • No Ads: Enjoy a smooth and uninterrupted user experience for scanning *or* downloading.
4. How do I use the app? Is it complicated?

No, it's extremely simple! The process is done in 3 quick steps:

  1. Share/Paste URL: Use the 'Share' function of your mobile browser on the page containing the PDFs, or copy/paste the URL directly into the app.
  2. Start Scan: Press the button for the app to analyze the page (and sub-pages for the Pro version).
  3. Download: A list of found PDFs appears. Select the ones you want and press "Download" (in the free version, this will launch a short ad before downloading). That's it!

See the detailed guide here.

5. Is it legal and safe to use PDF Finder?

Yes. PDF Finder simply automates an action you could do manually: browse a web page and click on every PDF link. The application does not "hack" any system and does not access password-protected content if you do not have access to it yourself via your browser. We respect the structure of websites.

Regarding the security of your data, we do not collect any sensitive personally identifiable information. You can consult our Privacy Policy for more details.

6. Does it work on all websites (university portals, Moodle, etc.)?

PDF Finder is designed to work on the vast majority of websites, including many university portals or professional sites. However, some sites using very specific technologies, advanced anti-scraping protections, or requiring complex interactions may limit scanning efficiency.

The Pro version with its recursive scan significantly increases the chances of success on complex structures but does not guarantee that all PDFs present on the site will be available for download. The application is not intended to bypass protection systems of visited sites.

7. Does the app work on sites requiring a login?

It depends. The app scans the content of the page as it is accessible. If you are already logged into a site in your mobile browser *before* sharing the URL to PDF Finder, the app should be able to scan the page you have access to thanks to the link. It does not store or use your login credentials.

Depending on the site's technical configuration, such downloading may sometimes be impossible even if you are logged in.

8. Is there a version for iPhone (iOS)?

Currently, PDF Finder is available only on Android via the Google Play Store. We do not have an iOS version planned for the moment, but we are evaluating future demand.

9. What personal data does the app collect?

We take privacy very seriously. The app mainly collects anonymous data to function and improve:

  • Usage data (which functions are used) via Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how to improve the app.
  • Crash data via Firebase Crashlysics to fix bugs.
  • An advertising ID (resettable) via Google AdMob to display relevant ads in the free version.

We DO NOT collect the URLs you scan or the PDF files you download. For all details, consult our Privacy Policy.

10. What to do if the app doesn't find all the PDFs I see on the page?

Several reasons are possible:

  • The PDF might be "hidden" in a sub-page. The Pro version with recursive scanning is designed for these cases.
  • The site uses complex technology to find or display PDFs.
  • Make sure the page was fully loaded in your browser before sharing it.

If the problem persists on a specific site, do not hesitate to contact us with the URL so we can investigate. We are always looking to improve our scan efficiency!
